Tips for Brushing Teeth
No matter how busy life you live, instead of once try to brush at least twice a day. If possible, brush after every meal. Wait for 30 minutes after eating, so that any enamel that softened due to acid re-hardens and does not get brushed away. Proper brushing removes plaque, a coating of bacteria that sticks to teeth. When bacteria in plaque are exposed to food, they produce acids, which further leads to cavities.
When you brush:
1. Take a pea-sized dab of toothpaste on the head of the toothbrush (Use a toothbrush with soft bristles).
2. Hold the toothbrush against the teeth at an inclination of a 45-degree to the gum line.
3. Move the brush across the teeth using a small rotational motion. Gently continue with this circular motion cleaning one tooth at a time. Hold the tips of the bristles against the gum line. Do not press the brush so hard that the bristles lie flat against the teeth. Keep patience while brushing and allow the bristles reach into spaces between teeth.
4. Brush across the top of the chewing surfaces of the teeth. Ensure the bristles get into the crevices and grooves.
5. Use the same rotational motion to clean the backside of the upper and lower teeth – the side that faces the tongue.
6. While cleaning the inner side of the bottom front teeth, incline the head in an up-and-down position towards the bottom inside of the mouth and move the toothbrush in a small circle.
7. While cleaning the inner side of top front teeth, incline the head in an up-and-down position with the tip of the head pointing towards the upper surface of the mouth. Move the toothbrush in a small circle.
8. Offer your tongue some brush strokes–brushing from the back of your tongue forward. This process will eradicate bacteria and freshens your breath.
9. After brushing your teeth for 2-3 minutes, properly rinse your mouth with water.
10. Do not forget to replace your toothbrush with a new one every 3-4 months.
Tips for Flossing your Teeth
Floss your teeth at least once a day. Flossing eliminates food particles and plaque between the teeth, where your toothbrush cannot reach. If plaque is not removed, it can solidify into tartar that should be removed professionally by a dentist or hygienist.
When you floss:
1. Take about an 18-inch floss strip from the dispenser.
2. Wind the floss around the fingers, leaving a 1-inch section open for flossing. Start flossing the top teeth first, then the bottom.
3. Place the floss in your mouth and use your index fingers to push the floss between the teeth. Do not push too hard as it can injure the gums.
4. Move the floss up and down against the tooth, and up and around the gum line. When you floss, a C-shape should form around the tooth.
5. If needed, use a clean section of floss and wind the used section of floss around the fingers.
Proper Eating Habit for Dental Health
Your dental health entirely depends on your eating habits. For a good oral health, eat different types of food, but try to skip those foods that contain sugars and starches. Such types of foods produce acids in the mouth and the longer they stay in the mouth, the more they damage the teeth. Eating food that is more sugary can lead to tooth decay, as most people don’t brush their teeth after snacks. Avoid eating starchy and sugary foods like,
