Dental Crowns & Bridges
Both crowns and bridges are restorative dental treatments that help rebuild and improve the look of teeth that are damaged or missing. They also give patients back the function they need to use their smile properly. Here at Monarch Dentistry, Dr. Neil Flenniken and Dr. Suzan Rismani-Flenniken are proud to offer an exceptional level of skill and experience in all the work they provide. Our team looks forward to helping you achieve better oral health and happiness than ever before.
What is a Dental Crown?
A crown, also called a cap, allows you to entirely cover a damaged tooth. It not only protects and strengthens a damaged tooth, but it can radically improve a tooth’s shape, appearance, and alignment.
How Does a Dental Crown Help?
- Protect a weak tooth from further damage
- Support a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth structure left
- Restore a broken or fractured tooth
- Support a dental bridge
- Cover a discolored or deformed tooth
- Cover an implant
- Protect a tooth that has had a root canal
- Make a cosmetic alteration
What are Dental Bridges?
A dental bridge, on the other hand, is an excellent way to fill the space left by missing teeth. A bridge consists of one or more fake teeth that are cemented into place, using the adjacent teeth for support. A bridge is long-lasting, and it not only replaces a missing tooth cosmetically, but functionally as well. The materials that our dentists use for a bridge include gold alloy, porcelain infused to a metal alloy, and all-ceramic material, which is custom-made to match a patient’s natural tooth color.
What are Dental Bridges for?
- Fill the space left by missing teeth
- Restore the ability to speak and chew properly
- Prevent remaining healthy teeth from sliding out of position
- Distribute the bite force evenly by replacing missing teeth
- Maintain facial features
How Long is the Dental Crowns & Bridges Process?
Both crown and bridge procedures typically require around two to three appointments here at Monarch Dentistry to successfully complete. First, our doctors will prepare the affected tooth or teeth and take impressions to send to a quality lab. We’ll provide you with a temporary restoration in the meantime so that your daily routine isn’t disrupted. Once we’ve received the finished crown or bridge, we’ll invite you back to our Vienna, VA location so that we can securely place it and make any needed adjustments so you’re fully satisfied with result. Please contact us today to learn more, or if you’re ready to schedule your first appointment with our dedicated staff.
